Tasmania's south west lakes of Pedder and Gordon hold the largest water storage in Australia. After spending 3 days in this remote region two hours drive from Hobart, I surrendered to the gloomy weather. A place to ponder on life. The ever changing light with endless sprinkles of rain never left me thirsty for a blood orange sun. In fact, the opposite effect was more appealing. Melancholia often plays a role in our encounters with art works, and it is also present in our aesthetic responses to the natural environment. Melancholia is a mature emotion in which reflection calms a turbulent soul. This pattern has been an ogoing theme in my work over the last decade.
